I'm a Little Teapot...

...Short and stout

When I get all steamed up here me shout...

Look at this place! Nuts huh? It's an honest-to-goodness teapot house!

Hubby is making fast progress on his road to recovery but was really wanting some fish. This little place just happens to be our local fish market.

The guy that owns it drives up to Baltimore twice a week to get fresh fish. I'm not a huge fish eater but since poor sweet Hubby was hurting I said he could get whatever he wanted. 

What was I thinking?

He choose wild salmon that was overnight-ed from Scotland. It cost $18 a pound!!!

For starving students, that is a fortune! Do you know how many meals of ramen noodles that would equal? And he's the only one that will eat it!!!

OK. Rant over. 

Other than that, this was a great date. What a cool building and this was the first time Hubby had been outside since his surgery. He was one happy boy.

The National Mall

Since Hubby is still lying low after his surgery, I thought I would post about dates that we went on earlier in our marriage. 

Before Sweet B was born we went and took a tour of  our Nation's Capitol. I was pregnant, cold, and my feet hurt. Therefore there are no pictures of the grouchy pregnant lady. :)

It WAS fun though. We stopped at all the important monuments and memorials and ended the day at a Spanish restaurant the made my pregnant belly a little too queasy. 

The great thing about the National Mall is that its free. How often can you go see so many sights and not pay a dime? Not very often these days. Take advantage of it! Visit those free monuments and memorials in your neighborhood. And maybe brush up on some history while your at it.

Valentines Day Prep: Movies

In continuing with our preparation for Valentine's Day, I have compiled a list of movies that I think would be wonderful picks for the holiday. 

If you plan to end your Lover's holiday with a movie, decide NOW which one it will be. Make sure you have it on hand, borrow, or request it from Netflix etc. And check to see if your Hubby will even sit through it. I don't know about you, but that's my biggest challenge.

First on my list would be Pride and Prejudice. I just love Jane Austen anything and this is a classic story. However, Hubby is not on the same boat as me on this one. Bummer.

Hubby does enjoy movies with Jummy Stewart and Ginger Rogers though. Movies like this one: Vivacious Lady. It's romantic AND hilarious!

Another classic is Roman Holiday. Just love Audrey Hepburn!

BBC's version of Emma is fantastic! I must admit I was skeptical about this one. I didn't think it could get better than Gwyneth Paltrow. But it can. Like, 10 times better. I will never go back.

I love all of these not only because they are romantic, but wholesome too! Good CLEAN movies. I don't want to watch something that makes me feel uncomfortable.

Romance Spotlight!

I hope that everyone has noticed my weekly ROMANCE SPOTLIGHT!

Every Tuesday I have a guest blogger tell a romantic story or date. 

But today I am going to be a little selfish and spotlight myself. 

Because I can. Hehehe

Hubby and I met in the Washington D.C. Dulles airport. True Story.

I was 18. Fresh out of high school and a little nervous to be moving across the county by myself. He was 21 and back from his two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mississippi. My instructions were to "find other students going to SVU at the airport and wait with them for a shuttle". 

How the heck was I supposed to identify SVU students in a huge airport?

I held back tears as I clumsily rolled my suitcases up and down the baggage claim. It was late at night and I was alone, in an airport and city that I had never been in before. I finally gave up and sat down in one of the claims hopping that someone would find me. 

Eventually, someone did. A girl walked over to me and told me that a group of students was waiting in another claim to be picked up by the school's shuttle. Hubby was in that group. As this girl introduced me to everyone else that was waiting, I couldn't help but notice how smokin' hot this guy was. But when she got to him, all he did was look up at me and then back down to his lap top. 

Really?

Not only was I a young, nervous girl, but the people at this school I was going to attend seemed so mean! 

After a few hours of waiting, I pulled out some crackers that I had been snacking on and offered them to everyone waiting in the group. Suddenly Hubby perked up. "I'll have some!" 

Again. Really?

No greeting of any kind. Not a hello, hey, hi. Nothing. Nada. But as soon as food enters the picture, he is more than willing to talk to me. 

Who is this guy?

First impressions aren't always good ones. After our cracker exchange we got to talking and found out that he was actually very nice but never thought I would ever stand a chance with him. 

 A couple of weeks later though we found each other on campus and started dating. 

When I met Hubby, he had never kissed anyone. Ever. He always said that he wanted to save his kisses for his wife. And I just thought that was so sweet!

After we had been dating awhile, he grabbed me one night and gave me a kiss! I was thrilled but confused at the same time. 

"I thought you were going to save that for the girl you marry."

He looked me in the eye and said "I did."

The rest, as they say, is history. We were married June 23rd in the Salt Lake Temple. 

I can honestly say that I am married to my best friend and loving every minute of it.

Puzzle Date

Happy Friday! 

Phew! Hubby and I have had a hectic week! Last Friday I took him to the hospital because he had appendicitis! YIKES! No worries though. He had surgery and is doing much better now. 

All that to say, we have been lying low around here. Since he is supposed to be taking it easy, our dates have to be super mellow too. 

Mellow dates? No problem!

This week we pulled out a puzzle! When was the last time you did a puzzle? Its been awhile for us. 

It was nice to stay home and enjoy each others company over a puzzle. You could even make your own! I'm thinking of making a puzzle valentine for Hubby! 

This was a great date because we didn't need a babysitter and it was FREE! Love me some free dates. Give it a try! Or make your own together.
